As a leader it’s important to understand that facilitating creativity and innovation among your team is one of the most important jobs in your daily work. When employees feel empowered to be creative at work, they are more purposeful, engaged and inspired to do amazing things. Since this is the goal for every workplace team, it becomes vitally important for today’s leaders to tap into their full range of creative abilities.
To facilitate creative experimentation you have to encourage your team members to throw out ideas and see what sticks — in other words, throw some spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks.
Yes, to some leaders (and some employees) this may be super uncomfortable at first. But the longer you foster an open and creative environment with your team–the more comfortable people will become at starting food-fights in the boardroom–and the more productive and innovative your team will become.
